I am traveling with the truck to Paris and, because of the traffic ban, I chose the Autohof in Achern. Luckily I have my bicycle with me and I always look for Italian places with good food. Today I made the right choice! Dai Nonni. A great positive surprise. As soon as I arrived at the counter, I met the chef and told him that I wanted to eat well. He immediately served me some excellent homemade bread with garlic, oil and courgettes, accompanied by an excellent red wine from Puglia. In the background, beautiful Italian music from times gone by. On his advice, I took a pork dish with a side dish - really delicious. Too bad they don't have beef!!! Speaking Italian, I felt like I was in Calabria, also because the place is furnished in a rustic style and the owner is Calabrian. Everything really perfect. Considering that I often pass through here on my way to France, this place becomes my new point of reference for a good stop and an excellent dinner.
We were there for the first time today and were thrilled with the antipasti, tiramisu, grappa, and espresso. Very authentic, and the owner presents it with a passion for both the good and the delicious. The atmosphere is typical of an Oberachern village pub, but as soon as Italian music starts playing with a nice glass of wine, it becomes pleasant too.
The service was very friendly and had a real Italian sense of humor. The fries and an ice cream for the mini were free, and the prices were fair. But the food was just disgusting. The carbonara was gray (??) and in a puddle of oil. My tomato sauce was just a careless can of tomatoes with salt and pepper, simply inedible. The restrooms are ancient, with no soap or paper... People around us were just sitting with drinks; it's probably better to drink than eat here. WELL,
