We visited this mini resort in the Black Forest while on a Viking cruise. It features a shop with the largest selection of locally built cuckoo clocks I’ve ever seen, a glass blowing shop, a cafe with home made Black Forest cake, and other features. There is a trail by the hotel that takes you under the scenic viaduct and into the Black Forest.

The hotel is not ready to provide quality service for a group of 40 people. The rooms were reserved a month in advance, but the hotel thought it was a mistake. We called to warn and also sent an email. In the evening, a surprise awaited us in the restaurant, since we agreed that we would choose from 2 offered dishes, since the hotel kitchen did not count on 40 people and we did not mind this. We were told the price of the dishes in advance, but during the evening the price changed and from 18 euros per dish increased to 26 without warning. I am sending a photo of the dishes. Breakfast was also not impressive, instead of juices we received orange-colored water without taste. Chocolate muffins were dry, and fresh fruits were poured with some kind of vinegar. I liked the very tasty coffee. The rooms in the hotel are spacious, clean but they lack such little things as hair conditioner and slippers. I am very sorry to write such a review simply because the hotel has an incredibly beautiful location in the Black Forest mountains but the quality of service leaves much to be desired.

Overal we enjoyed our week at Hofgut Sternen, however there are some points that could be improved. It’s located in the heart of the black forest, surounded by nature with lots of beautiful trails nearby. Hikers will love it. The busy road nearby brings lots of tourists in 20+ busses to the hotel everyday . These groups pass your window constantly to enter the shops inside the hotel. So don’t expect a quiet location. It’s clearly a big income for the hotel It’s a great hotel to pass on your way to your main holiday location, but not for your main location itself. 1-3 days max would been a better choice instead of the 7 days we stayed here. However we still had a good time.
