Berghotel Hammersbach : Kreuzeckweg 2, 82491 Grainau

I recently stayed at Berghotel Hammersbach and overall had a lovely experience. The absolute highlight of this hotel is its unbeatable location nestled right at the foot of the mountains with direct access to beautiful hiking trails like the Höllentalklamm. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, this place is ideal. The scenery is breathtaking, and the atmosphere is relaxing it really feels like a hidden gem in the Alps. The room was cozy and clean, and breakfast was great with a solid variety of options to start the day. I could totally imagine coming back here, especially in winter to see the landscape in a different light. One thing I’d kindly like to point out is the staff friendliness unfortunately not everything was handled professionally, there was a certain distance or lack of warmth that guests can pick up on. It’s nothing major or offensive, and of course, we all have our days, but a little more welcoming vibe would make the stay feel even more special. That being said, I really enjoyed my time here, and I’d still recommend Berghotel Hammersbach to anyone looking for a nature getaway with excellent hiking right at your doorstep.

Horrible service! 1. Dirty pillow in the room 2. The cook in the restaurant rejected to cook the omelette even at 10.00 am, the restaurant for breakfast is open till 10.30. Also she throw the plate during communication with me, it made a lot of noise. It was very aggressive. 3. On the reception we were not explained clearly how to find our room in third building. We were looking for it in the dark and didn’t know that there are too entrances, so it took a lot of time with heavy baggage and dog… I put the star only for location.

I visit the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area often and have stayed at many great hotels, but Hotel Hammersbach is by far the best. The location is wonderful—peaceful, close to nature, yet well connected by public transport, so a car isn’t really necessary. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection for all tastes. I was especially impressed by the vegetarian omelet and vegetable steak—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The spa area was a highlight of the stay. For an even better experience, it would be great to offer infused water (like cucumber, lemon, or orange) in the sauna area for a refreshing touch. Overall, the service, comfort, and attention to detail at this hotel were outstanding. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!
