Landhotel Falkenhof : Gartenweg 2, 91729 Haundorf

I always tell people that the quality of services, restaurants,hotels etc are excellent in Germany, that changed when we stayed at this hotel. Badly managed and under staffed,apart from one part time Polish worker there was no real interaction between the guests and the management. He always avoided eye contact and therefore never paid attention to the guest's. We booked a non smoking room,which we got,but every room around us had smokers making it impossible to have the windows open, the balconies are about enough room forb2 people but you cannot sit on them as the gaps in the timber boards create a danger if things falling through them. The PIR light goes on and off sporadically shining right into our room. We knew the rooms would be basic and that's what they were. The car parking was directly outside of our room and ad it was so small, cars reversed into the spaces and IF we had windows open we either had exhaust or cigarette fumes. On one evening we waited for 40 minutes for our meal served by a waitress who did not seem to care whether or not we were there,I tried 3 timed to order a refill for my wife ,she kept saying soon, in the end I went to the bar and asked our friendly manager, he nodded, my wife in the meantime finished her meal,15 minutes later he bought the drink, I said I no longer wanted it as my wife had finished her meal,we exchanged quite a few words, he said he was too busy, I refused to pay for the refill. The impression you get when you book,is if a hotel,the reality is the accommodation is located in 3 badly located accommodation blocks with basic facilities. This hotel is under staffed and badly managed The only favourable thing was that when the food eventually arrived it was generally quite palatable, the buffet breakfast was plentiful if not a little boring after the 2nd day, continually having to ask the one man band to refill the food and drinks. The layout of the dining area is such that when the sun shines in order not to be blinded by the sun,the canopies need to be put in place, 1 evening I asked 6 times,all that was required was the touch of a switch, eventually I had to really raise my voice to get the canopy put in place.

We were attending an exibition in Nurenberg around 40 Km from the Hotel . Frankly for a two nights stay , the hotel was clean , warm , tidy and basic and the bed was so comfortable . for a buisness trip no one can ask for more . I also …

In our hotel room were probably bedbugs or fleas. I had after four nights around 50 insect bites on my body. My coleague had 20, on bed sheet were traces of our blood. Windows were in the night shut. Hotel staff said it's from a mosquitos. Without any apology. They seem like it's for them funny. I hope, i didn't get this insect to my home.
