A very nice restaurant located by a small lake. Nice outdoor seating. The service seems very busy, but the drinks and food don't take long to arrive. As for the food: very good craftsmanship, perfectly quenched. This is the kind of Franconian food you'll enjoy. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality and the location. We'll be happy to return.
The food was adequate, but tasted mediocre; paying by card was discouraged. The terrace by the pond was very nice, but it was full.
Friendly restaurant situated in Birklingen at the southern tip of the Steigerwald hills. Great German food with a modern twist, good wines, and very friendly service at reasonable prices. Since receiving a mention in the Michelin guide, people from far and wide visit here. In the summer, lovely seating outside. Reserve a table in advance if you don't want to be turned away at the door. The food is upscale without being snobbish. Changes in 2022: The restaurant has now reopened in 2022 after the Covid lockdowns of 2020 and 2021. The quality of the food remains the same - excellent. However, due to staffing problems on account of personnel having quit during the lockdowns, the restaurant is open only four days a week and closed for three, unfortunately. When we visited recently, service was slow but very friendly. Our food arrived around 35 minutes after placing the order, but it was piping hot and absolutely delicious! Request al fresco seating if the weather allows it. Prices have gone up in line with other good restaurants in the region. Expect to pay around EUR 30 for a main course and a drink. A lot of the seating is wheelchair accessible, and if you're sitting outside so are the restrooms.
