My goal was actually to get fresh local fish or to be able to eat smoked mackerel somewhere. A Google search led me to "Flo's Smokehouse," where I confidently purchased fish. I was surprised that the fish was completely wrapped in plastic, completely vacuum-sealed. I've grown to hate food wrapped in plastic because it loses its flavor and nutritional value. But I (unfortunately) bought it anyway because I was curious. When I got home, I saw the second major flaw: The fish is definitely not local, but from Norway, according to the package insert. Therefore, it can't possibly be fresh!! Nevertheless, I wanted to at least try it and discovered that this "product" has absolutely nothing in common with fish. Zero flavor, except for salt...mushy, unappetizing, and the former fish skin was authentic plastic, as you can also guess from the photos. It's very sad what some people dare to offer. Where have the fish restaurants with their own ponds and smoked, fresh fish from the surrounding area gone? Like back in Wildenreuth. Food should/must taste that delicious and fresh. Not shrink-wrapped plastic mush from 2,000 km away.
Dear Christian Müller, When I read your review, I have to smile and wonder if you even know anything about fish. Mackerel are saltwater fish and don't live in local ponds or waterways... Local fish include trout, char, carp, pike, zander, and catfish... I also vacuum-seal my products to ensure they last longer. If you feel offended, please stop by and ask for expert advice. Best regards, Flo's Smokehouse
