A visit to the Weltenburg monastery tavern with its lovely chestnut-lined beer garden is highly suggested as the perfect end to an excursion that includes a boat trip, hike, and sightseeing. It's very busy during the day at lunchtime; after 5:00 p.m., it's quieter, and it's easier to find a nice table. We came here as a group, found a seat quickly, and the service was particularly friendly and helpful. The regional Bavarian food was delicious and generously portioned, the fresh monastery beer is the best, and the prices are fair. The atmosphere is top-notch down to earth.

Food was delicious. The smoked trout was most and flavorful, and while the sauerbraten was a little dry, it still tasted great. The asamtorte might be the best or second best dessert I've ever had in my life. The raspberry tart was also very good. Love the atmosphere here too. Don't just come for the food; come for the meadow behind the monastery, the river, or the trails across the river.

We got there by boat and we had a great afternoon. Nice place to walk around and the beer and food was delicious. To get there the 2 way boat trip was around 13 euros per person. There is boats every hour.
