Hotel und Restaurant Karwendelblick : Urfeld 15, 82432 Kochel am See

DO NOT STAY HERE. BED BUGS! My husband and I stayed at this hotel June 19-22 in room 13. During our stay we noticed two brownish „streaks“ on the bedding and our pillows, but didn’t think much of it or investigate. Later we would find out that these were CLEAR signs of bed bugs. Three days later, over 400 bites appeared on my husband and over 50 appeared on me, including on our faces. Our reaction to the bites was delayed by a few days, which is most common (a quick google will confirm) All evidence says that the infestation started at this hotel as we found zero evidence at our own apartment. The hotel confirmed that there was an infestation in our room, but accused us of bringing them. We’ve found no evidence of bugs in our apartment. This is a lakeside hotel that cleans rooms only three times a week (they cleaned our last day we were there only). I first emailed the hotel about this on June 26. On June 28 the hotel asked US TO COVER THIER BILL without a single apology. I found this appalling behavior. We are paying to have our apartment fumigated in case any bugs moved to our home. Not to mention sleepless nights, uncertainty and stress not knowing if our apartment had been infested or not, treatment creams, and the discomfort of the bites themselves. I understand these things happen, but the hotel‘s lack of accountability and disrespectful response led me to make these reviews. Needless to say. My advice is DO NOT STAY HERE. Photos of bites are included as some evidence. In Germany, businesses can have bad reviews removed for nothing - so here’s to hoping this one can stay public. Will update and/or remove this review if the hotel responds appropriately.

Nice hotel located right on the lake with fantastic view. Room we stayed is modest but clean and well maintained. Staff is very friendly and breakfast is good.
