Dubai Restaurant : Johannisstraße 8, 91207 Lauf an der Pegnitz

We visited the "Dubai Restaurant" in Lauf/Peg on May 18, 2025. An inconspicuous building just before the market square. First of all, it's not really a "restaurant" but more of a snack bar, like other kebab shops. We were informed in advance about the food selection, which is Arabic. I recognized some of it from my vacation in Egypt. The interior design was rather plain and, in my opinion, a bit messy. The service (it was apparently the chef, cook, and server all rolled into one; a woman was also in the open kitchen) was very friendly and accommodating. We chose the "grilled chicken," I had fries and my companion had rice. The wait was absolutely OK (the snack bar also delivers via Lieferando, so please see the current menu for prices). The chicken was, let's say, Arabic-style, which we really enjoyed...the side dishes included grilled tomatoes, various salads/vegetables, and flatbread filled with tomato paste. The portion was large, perfectly adequate even for a big eater like me. The price: €10.90. Unfortunately, they don't serve beer. What I didn't like so much: No card payments in the restaurant (you can pay by delivery, though). The non-alcoholic drinks from the discounter (Lidl, etc.) No beer (it's just a matter of taste). What I particularly liked: More than OK value for money. Friendly hosts. Very good food, prepared differently.

Simply wow! Upon entering, customers are greeted by a counter laden with pre-prepared salads, and to the left of it, a dessert counter that's typical of Arabic cuisine. All dishes are freshly prepared, with a perfect blend of presentation and taste. We'll be going there often. The value for money is guaranteed. The dishes are a positive contrast to all other Arabic-inspired restaurants in Lauf. Highly recommended!

Very tasty food and great atmosphere. It's almost hard to believe that something like this exists in a small town. The portions are large and so is the selection. And very nice staff. Please keep it up 🙏
