We were not "satisfied" here. We were AMAZED! We get around quite a bit in Franconia. This is one of the best experiences we have had in regards to everything. The food was great! We had Sauerbraten (beef roast), Pfefferhaxen (peppered pork knuckle) and the Entenbrust (roast duck). Large portions, all served steaming hot and at a VERY affordable price. The service was very friendly and quick. Their own beer was exceptional! A typical, small family owned Franconian Brewery - Gasthaus. Along with their regular "Hausbräu", they also had a Märzen with 5.7% on tap!
This is the kind of place that makes beerwandering so worth it. My wife so sweetly accompanied me to nearby Ebing by train from Bamberg, as it was my birthday weekend. The weather was pretty grim and we'd already done a beery excursion the previous day. The nice thing would have been for me to forego this one but I relented and actually, we BOTH were glad I did. The walk was quite charming, past an old mill and we saw some wading birds along the way, too. This brewpub was packed but we secured a spot and enjoyed one of the best Schäuferlas we'd ever had. The beer was sublime, the kind you wish you could have every day (or at least weekend). Can't wait to return.
Nice restaurant normally full of locals. Food was great they had a huge portion of Schäuferla. They brewed their own beer and it taste so good.
