We had a very pleasant evening at the Schardhof! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends after a long hike. The staff was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The menu offered a good selection of regional and seasonal dishes, prepared with great attention to detail. We particularly enjoyed the freshly prepared meat and the sophisticated side dishes – they tasted truly amazing! One small drawback was the slightly longer wait for the main course, but the wait was definitely worth it. Overall, a great restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. We'd be happy to return! Well-deserved 4 stars!

The Schardhof is a pub popular with tourists, hikers, and cyclists, as well as locals. It's idyllically situated in the middle of the forest, but can also be reached by car. There's also a lovely outdoor play area for children. We were there on a Sunday evening and, while there were no outdoor seating, we had a free choice inside. The selection of dishes isn't that extensive, and even smaller for vegetarians, but: If you enjoy a really good, hand-pounded schnitzel or a deliciously crispy chicken, this is the place for you! Everyone loved the meat, and the fries were really tasty and crispy! The schnitzel had a crispy coating, and to be honest, there were two schnitzels per portion, just like in the old days. I was a little jealous because I don't eat meat, but I was also very satisfied with my baked Camembert. Besides, where else can you find restaurants that charge €3.50 for ordering a senior citizen's plate? Otherwise, you'd only save two euros at most. The only downside is the vegetarian options and that the salad was too salty for me. But I can still highly recommend the Schardhof! And if you're a good walker, the best way to do it is to walk up from Hammelbach and then leisurely stroll back down the hill after dinner.

We passed this beautiful place right on our bike tour. Very idyllic location. The service welcomed us very friendly. We chose boiled schnitzel and were not disappointed! We'll be back 🙃
