Perfect mountain trattoria. The food was incredible, service was fast and friendly, view incredible. It encompasses all that is simply good in life.

Actually, this place deserves another star, but I won't give it for two reasons. One: the daily specials, which are realy only a few dishes were first available, then not after all. It was 12 noon with no other guests yet. How can it be out of stock? Second: The alp cheese piece cost CHF 15. Are you kidding? I can buy half a kilo of bio cheese in the overpriced Wallis for that! Okay, I got a few overcooked string beans with it. So formaggio con verduras. Still not worth CHF 15. My husband's meal, osso bucco with homemade gnocchi burro salvia cost CHF 25. See attached pictures. Price for coffee however was very fair and the coffee was generous and good.

The Grotto Mornera is located right at the top station of the Mornera gondola. It's a perfect starting point for the Via Ferrata dei Tre Signori. The combination of cake and coffee is divine. I tried the Ticino cake and can recommend it if you like raisins. It's good value for money, even for families. The only drawback is the limited capacity of the Mornera gondola. This makes getting there and back more difficult.
