Typical Bernese restaurant with the warm atmosphere that goes with it. We had the menu, a good zucchini soup, followed by a good mixed salad and a Milanese picata or Viennese escalope. The meat was tender and juicy, we are sure it must have come from a nearby pig. The potions were very generous especially for the price. The waitress was very very nice, fast and cordial. We went there to discover the Kleeb mill, their direct neighbor, and we will return there
A country inn like I know from “back in the day” and which unfortunately are rarely found anymore. The staff greeted us very friendly, took off our jackets and accompanied us to the table. In the time it took us to sit down, the serving daughter used this to get the menus from the side table. She lit the candle at the table and asked us for an aperitif. When we said no, we were given the recommendation of the house and the special offers of the day, after which we were immediately given the menu and asked about the drink. The sweet drink is served in a vessel and not in a huge, single glass, which allows the guest to divide the drink as needed and/or share it with the companion. Wine recommendations are very precise and knowledgeable. The food is very tasty and prepared with a good eye, which shows that the staff in the kitchen also know their job and do it with passion. The quality of the food is top and there is a more than good price-performance ratio! The ambience is very well combined between “former” and “new” and it is comfortably furnished. There is also a bowling alley and various events such as lottery, theater and dancing. The toilets are very clean. It was also nice how the employees treated each other peacefully. Here the guest is definitely seen and treated and served in a friendly and competent manner. All in all, it's always worth coming back and enjoying it!
Once very satisfied customers, we were disappointed today. One order was a fish crisps menu with soup. One order was a fish crisps à la carte with salad. The endless wait was met with a bland salad and lukewarm soup. I asked for a hot, fresh soup. They brought me the same warmed-up soup. The salad had already been eaten by my companion. The food arrived ages later. While serving my fish crisps, the waitress poured half a portion of French fries over my back. The fries weren't replaced. I now have to wash my shirt myself. When I asked why the mayo sauce was poured over the crisps, the waitress threw up her hands with a sneer and said, "They're not in the kitchen." The fries were also over-fried and looked more like oil fries. The spinach was also overcooked. Even as we poured our wine and cola, the waitress was fussing over everything. They offered us the dessert menu. Thanks, we declined. We'd been bothered enough already. Where was the landlady? I have no idea. I would have expected an apology. But now I know why the parking lot and the road were empty when we arrived for lunch.
