Got the ham and mushroom fondue and then the lamb rack with fries. It was so delicious! We dipped all the things with the fondue :) Would come back and try other flavours of fondue~ the spritz was also great :)
Why 3 stars? Let's begin, shall we? Service? About as good as it gets, on top of everything, quick, attentive. Service was solid. Food? Ordered the Pesto FONDUE, really good. Not An A +, but close. Beer? Tasty & cold. Ok, so why 3 stars? ABSOLUTELY & RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED. Yes, it Switzerland and Yes all food, all beer, all liquor, all "things" are expensive and actually very expensive. * about $37 US dollars for the cheese/fondue & bread (not the beer) in this video. But this restaurant, a good & solid restaurant, that is clean, has really good employees, is charging such INCREDIBLY HIGH PRICES, one just simply gets pissed off.
Our lunch at Vieux-Chalet was unfortunately underwhelming. The garlic fondue, while edible, fell short of expectations considering the price point. My wife’s entrecote was a particular disappointment, being tough and far from the quality one would anticipate. The only redeeming factor was the beer, which was enjoyable. Given the overall lacklustre quality of the food and the exorbitant prices, we cannot recommend Vieux-Chalet as a dining destination.
