Outstanding food and service. We stumbled across this town centre Auberge by chance. The staff were an absolute delight and the food was outstanding. I had their special - three types of mushroom - as a starter, OMG it was fantastic. I then had their burger, which I have to say, is the best burger I've ever eaten. 😋 Great wine list. Just go. This place is fabulous. Excellent outdoor seating for the evening sun.
I was eagerly looking forward to an evening out with my work team, having carefully chosen this restaurant based on the positive reviews we had seen. Our expectations were high, and we anticipated a memorable dining experience. However, what transpired at the restaurant left me feeling disheartened and frustrated. Upon our arrival, I noticed that only a few tables were occupied, which led me to believe that service would be prompt. Unfortunately, my expectations were quickly shattered as I found myself waiting for nearly 20 minutes just to place my order. This initial delay set an unfortunate tone for the rest of the evening. The wait continued as I patiently anticipated my entree, which ended up taking nearly an hour to arrive. Throughout this time, I couldn't shake the impression that my table was deliberately being overlooked while others received their meals promptly. The lack of attention and the apparent preference given to other clients left me feeling neglected and ignored. To make matters worse, when one of us asked about the status of our main course, we received an abrupt response of "it's at the table."(??) The dismissive nature of this reply was disheartening, especially considering we still witnessed the server attending to other clients and waiting for our food to arrive for another 10-15 minutes. The flavors were adequate, food was nicely presented, but the overall dining experience was broke by the restaurant's lack of attentiveness. A warm smile, a few words of apology, or even basic communication ( "so sorry you had to wait that long" etc) could have greatly improved my perception of the restaurant, but sadly, such gestures were absent. I sincerely hope that the owner takes this feedback into account and makes an effort to enhance their customer service in the future.
The place is nice without fuss. The people are very firendly and professional. The food was very good. For instance the terrine as a starter where they bring the actual full terrine on the table. I got a very good fish once with nice vegetables. Another time a very good piece of meat with fries fried in duck fat. For dessert, I remember this pear in red wine, amazing. If you like my review, give it a thumb 🙂
