Hotel Ristorante Stockalperturm Gondo Simplon : Simplonstrasse 30, 3907 Zwischbergen

I would like to share my recent experience during my trip to Switzerland. While traveling to Grindelwald with my family, we were unexpectedly greeted by a challenging situation near the small town of "Gondo" on the border between Italy and Switzerland. Due to a landslide blocking our route, we were stranded in the heavy rain. Fortunately, we came across this hotel, which provided us with a family room for the night. I must commend the excellent service we received during our stay. The cleanliness and modernity of the rooms, coupled with a delightful dinner, made our evening truly memorable especially considering the urgency of our booking. Historic hotel rebuilt in 2014 after being destroyed by a land slide in 2000. Rooms are very nice, restaurant is really good with a variety of dishes really well prepared. There's a water fall just in front and another one really high on the side. You must visit this amazing place, have dinner here and stop for the night. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed an excellent 6 courses New Years Eve dinner special here. Compliments to chef Fabienne! The selection of wines and the quiet and cosy rooms are to be recommended too. We stayed for another night dinner and were not disappointed by the every-day menu. The guest has the choice between historic rooms with wooden ceilings and rooms in the modern part of this former trade post tower. The place is ideal for a stopover when going over the Simplon pass or when you hike the historic Stockalper route. This is the place if you desire to eat something better than Pizza or Schnitzel.
