I had a quick lunch in this venerable and visibly popular eatery across the street from the principal art museum in Le Locle a Saturday end of June 2024. I was pleased the kitchen still accepted to serve someone arriving late for lunch and ordered what I thought would be the easiest for the cook, a tagliata di manzo, ordered blue but served à point, that according to my waiter, was the way they always cooked beef here. Not really reassuring! I had chosen a decent, local Pinot Noir by the glass to accompany the meat. I had also asked my waiter for a carafe of water that never arrived. There are no vegetarian options on the menu. Value for money on the low side.

The meal was excellent! Only surpassed by the excellent service. We had a unique evening. I have lived on many lakes (Biel, Thun, Zug, Lucerne) and have never eaten fish as good as here. Really good! My companion's meat was cooked exactly the way he wanted it. Tip: Many locals have eaten cheese fondue, which seems to be particularly popular here. (Visit on Easter Saturday 2024.)
