Restaurant s'Engelberg : Dorfstrasse 14, 6390 Engelberg

Update 28.12.3024 unfortunately no more Rösti left in the menu like last year.. restaurant became more Italian than Swiss.. we brought guests to try Swiss food but unfortunately had to eat steaks and italian soup.. Glühwein was too bitter.. Chicken nuggets were tasty. From the visit on 12.2023 We visited only the Restaurant, on the Christmas day. Unfortunately they don't serve Fondue anymore but we had nice tomato soups, rösti with salmon and chicken nuggets. Glühwein delicious as well.

Shared a nice pot of fondue and a mixed plate of local meats. Didn't think the two of us would find the bottom of the bowl of cheese but it was all so delicious! The place has an unassuming, local vibe. Our server spoke enough English to name three of the five meats on the mixed plate. The prices were pretty reasonable for the area (25chf/person for fondue) and we'd definitely visit again to explore more of the menu, which claims authentic Swiss dishes.

Out of all restaurants visited in Engelberg ( all quite good) this was my favorite. Delicious, hearty mountain food (I started with a refreshing Winter Salad, then dumped a yummy Calf Liver and Rosti on top of it to make sure I'm not hungry for the rest of the week) in a calm and relaxed setting. No fuss, no touristy vibes, just good food & chats -my idea of the perfect ending to a day on the slopes.
