Berghaus Niederhorn : Niederhorn 1015, 3803 Beatenberg

This is a review only for the cafe at Berghaus Niederhorn. This is a mountaintop restaurant offering both a self-service cafeteria and a full-service sit-down option. We chose the cafeteria, which had a surprisingly good selection of high-quality food—from traditional hot dishes like pasta to lighter options like sandwiches and salads. The salad was fresh, and even the fish fry and chicken nuggets were quite good. There are also plenty of drink options, including half and full bottles of wine, beer, and soft drinks. The service was friendly and helpful. Both the cook and cashier spoke English. The best part is the outdoor patio. Every table comes with a spectacular view of the mountains and the cable cars moving up and down the mountain. Seating is very spacious (indoor and outdoor). A great spot to relax and enjoy lunch after hiking around the Vorsass area or just taking the cable cars to the top.

The stay here was the peak of our trip. The cable car ride was FREE wheb we told the lady that we have a booking for the night which was a pleasebt suprise. The view is unbeliveble. The staff is very nice and helpful, as well as multylingual. The rooms are clean, have a sink, high quality. So are the shared facilities. But the best part (ok after the view..) is tge breakfest! Ho my god that was such a treat! Amazing food just kept coming out. The panoramic hike was fantastic. Great views for reletvly low effort. If you are coming as a overnight guest, it includes breakfast and the cable car (which is expensive!), so if you go up i recommned staying the night. Then you will have breakfast spot reserved for you. This is a popular place and many people come just for the food. I don't know who gave this place bad reviews! This is an amazing place.

Berghaus Niederhorn was an unexpected gem in our road trip. We are so pleased to have found it and cannot recommend enough for hikers, adventurers, and lovers-of-killer-views alike. There is a gondola up to the property as it is very high up on the mountain, so keep this in mind before booking! It is disheartening to see the reviews that are negative about this since it is well advertised as such. The gondola ride up is smooth and quick! The views are beautiful. I would recommend a light amount of luggage for the trip if you can manage. We just did one night so we had backpacks and a toiletry bag and it was perfect. The food on property was delicious and cost was appropriate for the region/location! We also had a beautiful room with an awesome view, incredible and kind staff, and very clean (shared!) restrooms/showers. If you do the basic research before you book, I’m sure you’ll absolutely adore these accommodations! Lastly, do the hikes up here if you can! They’re absolutely stunning views and you can see mountain goats and other amazing, unmatched, picture-perfect sights. We walked the 3.4 mile trail nearby and got back just in time for the perfect buffet breakfast. Book here!
