When I arrived at the restaurant, I was told that I could not sit near the window and was assigned to one of the corners of the restaurant. Although the location of the restaurant may be more popular, I hope it can be more friendly to tourists traveling alone. The rest is nothing to say the food is decent and the view is great
This is a 3 just for the views and the fact that they were serving Indian food on the top of Jung frau. We went to the restaurant around 12:15. The person accommodated us without a reservation. Told us there will be large groups coming in and in less than 30 minutes, we saw very large groups coming in. It was a buffet style, with one veg curry, 1 dal , 2 chicken curries and Malabar paratha. Chicken curry was very good. So was dal and paratha. Veg curry was average. The yogurt looked home made and was very nice as well, the place got very crowded very soon and to the point, it got chaotic. I would recommend reservations. Note that food was served in paper plates, which we didn’t mind given the experience in some Swiss restaurants. The cost per person was $32.50 which was similar to cost of main entre in many restaurants in tourist areas in Switzerland. We were surprised it was the same cost on Jung frau. The place could have been kept cleaner. With the crowd, there was lot of paper napkins on the floor etc.
This place is bound to attract Indians and non Indians visiting Jungfrau - the high of the place is enough to excite people who want to experience their comfort food at the Top of Europe - the food however is disappointing . The place is not welcoming at all - you are met with a curt , no non-sense kind of welcome and asked to pay up front before you eat. Coming to the food, it is disappointing. The soup was the highlight when we visited. The main course - chickpeas were half cooked, chicken was extremely spicy, rice was half cooked, rosti turned hard from the chafing dishes! Overall food is not good at all!
