Restaurant le 1209 : Rte de Lally 5, 1807 Blonay

I hiked here with my friends during April, spring season. We stayed at the hostel here and also had breakfast and dinner at the Restaurant le 1209, both are in the same building. The view from the restaurant, terrace and around the building outside is just breathtaking and magnificent. In this sense, the restaurant is situated in a really prime location. The room we stayed in had 10 beds with lockers . The room itself wasn’t huge, one door window that lead you outside to the beautiful view from the side. A little cramped, but luckily we were only 8 people in a 10 bed dormitory, so we had a little more space. The showers and bathrooms were located in the hallways outside of the dormitory. They were both really clean and in mint condition. The indoor lounge interior was fancy and elegantly decorated. You could relax while admiring the nice view. Or go outside on the terrace and enjoy a breath of fresh air. The restaurant area also has a cozy but stylish design and glass walls to see the mountains outside. The dinner we had was average in taste, but very very expensive. We took the full course with the entrée, main meal, and dessert. For me personally, the entrée and dessert was the best. The main meal was okay. Breakfast was great, but would have liked to have more croissants per person. The staff were polite and friendly. All in all, I would recommend the view and location of this place, but the restaurant not so much, the food isn’t worth the high prices.

I put these stars for the service they give tourists and for the ppl that served us. They are kind nice and smiley. We value it. And another reason is the view... It is worth making a small stop to enjoy it. I would be happy to see some small snacks like fruits or ice cream, nuts or crackers to drinks, add famous swiss coffee brand Bläsercafé, it would definitely make ppl put more nice references😍

It was the saddest experience ever. A beautifully decorated restaurant with great views and possibly some great food. But! with absolutely disgusting staff. none of the three waitresses, as usual, showed any interest in the newly arrived customers. We shared a pre-booked table with an older couple who arrived earlier, took the menu ourselves, after a half hour wait for a completely unresponsive staff, we made our order. Soon received the ordered drinks, but without a carafe of water which had to be reminded repeatedly, in the end we ourselves took it from the bar. Than we obediently waited for an hour, then we reminded ourselves, the child with us already wanted to eat and we asked our waitress Morgan to bring at least some bread. It's certainly amazing to sometimes go to a pretty decent-looking place to waste your energy trying to draw the attention of the staff to your humble person instead of relaxing and spending nice time with your family. Morgan with "understanding" convinced us that our order was a priority, and after another half an hour it turned out that our order had not been fixed and we were invited to make it again. After more than two hours!!! Of course we just got up and left. we didn't pay for the drinks as reported by Morgan. So, I think that this beautiful place does not deserve the attention of people who value their time more than the time of the people who serve them.
