We had late lunch, friendly staff in a very cosy village just outside Lucern.
This place needs a listing. Why this place does not have a review is puzzling. It a great place. It has all the classic characters and characteristics that a Bierhaus requires. A place you can watch teenagers going to the low price kebab and pizza place. The more sophisticated people going to the Italian across the road, hidden behind a hedge making plans of mice and men. The other group that a place like this requires is a group of bar flies. A group of locals drinking, passing judgment on all the people walking past and of course putting the world to rights not to mention what is wrong with the road layout at the motorway junction. The most important is a place where a man can have a beer, belch and order another beer without fear. The waiter is a person that just talks to you in German even though you don’t understand a word but somehow after a drink or two you get what he says. This is a place that on a warm evening you watch smiling people cycle, drive by and you are sure that the bikers with their non see through helmets are smiling. The bar fly table has completely changed their composition. Some have left to face questions from their wives why a short walk has turned into a two hours! By the way the age group of the bar flies is between 25 to 70. This is not a place to be introspection this for the people across the street at the Italian enjoying a glass of good wine that will never be good as that at Lake Garda. All you do is drink your beer and pass judgement on the passer by and wonder why the girls carry their mobile phone in their back pocket - will it break if they sit down? Now to the food - I had pork schnitzel mit vegetables and fries. My wife would generally eat the meat first then the rest. I like to take it evenly, however I always leave the last morsel to be best bit on the plate. It was the fries!! The pork schnitzel lacked the normal German something. It didn’t have the chefs normal generosity. The beer after a few pints I decided was a good a reason as any to visit this Bierhaus. I would give this a higher star rating if the establishment had shared their WiFi password. Now back to my beer.
We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and were pleasantly surprised! What a lovely ambiance, super-friendly service, and the food was not only visually stunning but also a culinary delight!!! We'll be back and recommend it! P.S. I didn't notice the restaurant's name until I left. Luckily, because as a vegetarian and non-alcoholic, I probably would have walked right past it ;-) My vegetarian dish consisted of rösti pastries, vegetables, and cream sauce. WOW!!
