Gasthaus Schwand GmbH : Schwand 1, 6390 Engelberg

We had a lovely stay here. Came with my wife and children. The hosts were very hospitable and accommodating. We checked in at night and were able to have dinner despite being late. The cheese fondue and mixed salad that we had was amazing. It hit the spot! I wish I took more pictures at the time of the stay to post them. We stayed in the family room. Picture included in review. The room had just been renovated. The room had a double bed, and two single beds. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. Everything was clean and neat. The room has a beautiful view. Please be aware that there is a shared/communal bathroom. This did not bother us. We knew it in advance. The bathroom was always clean. I never got the impression or felt like someone else was using it. The hosts clearly value hygiene and cleanliness. Parking is free and there were plenty of available spots. WIFI was good and included. Breakfast was simple, but fresh and good. Fruits, orange juice, tea, coffee, bread, cheese, jams, dried meat, yoghurt. I might have missed out on something, but that was good for me. You are surrounded by nature. Our kids loved it here too. We all wished we were staying longer. I will happily stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone. Best wishes to our wonderful hosts.

I had a wonderful experience at Gasthaus Schwand in Engelberg, Switzerland. Although it was quite expensive, the stay was excellent. The hotel is definitely old, but it is functional, clean, and well-maintained. The shared bathroom, clearly mentioned in the description when we booked, was not a problem at all. It was extremely clean, and even though all the other rooms on our floor were booked, we never had to wait to use it. The view from our hotel room window was amazing, offering a breathtaking panorama of the mountains. We appreciated the free parking. Since we were staying for only one night, we decided to leave our luggage on the roof of our car. The location felt very safe, and nothing was stolen. The WiFi was surprisingly good, especially considering the mountainous location, with speeds around 50 mbps+. The breakfast was simple yet delicious, featuring bread with chocolate and jam. One thing to be aware of is that they don’t allow food in the hotel rooms. Overall, it was a very good stay.

We stayed here for 1 X night and we were lucky to have the room at the top. There are amazing views. The bathroom and toilet were clean. The restaurant served great food and would recommend the beef tatar. The family that owned the business was open to feedback.
