What a great place to drop into for an après-ski drink and bight to eat on the mountain in Andermatt. This bar/restaurant is perfectly placed near the bottom of the home run in Andermatt. It’s cozy and relaxed and with some of the most friendly staff I’ve encountered. There’s nothing better than sitting outside on a sunny day watching the rays drop behind the mountains while watching skiers carve the last turns for the day. The views are spectacular outside. I also must commend the cheese fondue. Simply delicious and as authentic as you will find anywhere (and a great price at CHF29.5 per person). The delicious cheese fondue is served with pickled onions, cornichons and plenty of tasty bread. If you’re looking for a traditional fondue I would recommend this place over far more expensive and likely up market restaurants. And finally, the owners are also farmers in the summertime and love to showcase their beloved cows. There are some of the most animated photos cows on the walls you will ever see (and I never thought I would be saying that). It adds a great local and personal touch to this place. I highly recommend visiting Rüti Hütte for an après drink while you are in Andermatt. And don’t forget to order the fondue for 2.
Favourite place 😍 goood food, cozy atmosphere, beautiful view! ☀️
My family and I visited from California and decided to experience an authentic Swiss fondue — not one of those touristy fondues. Only the locals know (and now you do, too) that this ski chalet during-a-day transforms into an authentic Swiss restaurant at-night. So, we decided to try it after the recommendation of my friend. Without a doubt it was one of the best culinary experiences of of my life. Our journey started with walking up the mountain on a narrow, snow-covered path from the base of Andermatt. And when we thought the path ended, we spotted a barn. The hostess immediately greeted us by our last name. We ordered some drinks, cold-cuts, and a fondue. The both dishes were both incredible, bursting with rustic flavors. We def will be back for more! And, I really hope that you have a chance to experience this for yourself.
