Restaurant Gurschen : Gemsstock Mittelstation, 6490 Andermatt

Fast and good food, but the highlight are the staff, friendly and smiling all the time. Niki is the best, making me food withing 5 min before closing, was really nice from her 😁. Be like that all the time! I eat also ,,Dish of the day,, but I forgot to make a photo. I recomand this place.

This restaurant is halfway up the Gemsstock mountain easily accessible by cable car. We have been many times as it's a very convenient stop off whilst skiing. The view on a clear day is fantastic and the decor inside is tasteful. For this visit we ordered an alpine platter which was a great snack for 4 people and fries. Generally from previous times the portion sizes are equally large and I would recommend the Rösti for a hearty mountain meal. The service is quick but the staff look very stressed, with one member of staff even breaking down when we were there. This means the staff can be short sometimes. Overall, the food is well portioned and flavorful with a great view with reasonable service. Worth a pit stop whilst skiing.

I ordered the Rösti with Bacon and it seems the chef is in love because it was way too salty. Unfortunately even though I mentioned it to the waiter , they did not take it back and let me pay full price . Moreover they weren’t even willing to give out extra pickles which I asked for too compensate for the saltiness, even with me offering to pay for them. Unfortunately really cannot recommend and I was very disappointed with the staff’s reaction/ behavior after mentioning the food was way to salty. Edit: In response to the answer I received, I want to rectify information you got from your staff: I was neither offered a replacement Rösti, nor another meal. I also was not offered a complementary coffee.
