Auberge de la Croix Fédérale : Pl. du Village 2, 1168 Villars-sous-Yens

This is a rating for the restaurant only. The ambience is 4-stars . Although we didn’t sit there there was an outdoor patio area too across the street. The service was friendly so 4-stars there too. The food was okay. 4 of us opted into the menu de la semaine . The three of us ordered medium-rare but ended up with medium-well preparation. I should say that we did like the crust or char on the beef but the inside was more grey-pink instead of rose-red. This was a nicely located restaurant in an adorable village between Geneva and Morges.

This beautiful lovely restaurant is a delightful surprise. It is one of the few restaurants where you can have a meal after most have closed. But wait, that's not it's only appeal. It reminded me of Paris, enjoying dinner by the street as a few cars drove past. The plants. The flowers. The candles. The romantic lights. Perhaps it's not by coincidence. Its owner used to live in Paris. There is some kind of true beauty to it. Then there is the service. Excellent! Friendly staff. Very welcoming, polite, attentive, efficient and all round brilliant! Food. Only tried the pizza. It was probably one of the most delicious pizzas I've ever had. You have to try it yourself. I will be back to try the other dish, another time. I highly recommend this place! Give it a try!

Very good food. We really enjoyed the salmon tartare and the daurade. Very lovely presentation and tasted amazing. The service was also top notch and the decor, while simple, was warm and welcoming with nice paintings on the wall. Good and varied wine selection, also by the glass. Dog friendly.
