Gasthof Schönbühl is an absolute gem that I had the pleasure of visiting with my sister and her boyfriend, who are locals. From the moment we stepped in, the cozy atmosphere of this place, blending traditional charm with modern comfort, made us feel welcome. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was impeccably prepared, with flavors that delighted the palate. Fresh, locally-sourced ingredients were evident in every bite, and the presentation was beautiful, as shown in the dish I had. The combination of flavors and textures was perfect, and you could tell that each plate was crafted with care and attention to detail. What also stood out was the service. The staff was incredibly polite, professional, and attentive throughout our meal. A special highlight was that the owner herself came to speak with us, showing genuine interest in our experience and ensuring everything was to our satisfaction. This personal touch really made the visit memorable. If you’re ever in the area, Gasthof Schönbühl is definitely a place I’d highly recommend for both the exceptional cuisine and the warm, welcoming service. Vielen Dank und bis bald!
We had a terrible experience with this hotel. We booked 2 nights ,June 14 and 15 2025 that were Saturday and Sunday. Sunday morning, we left the hotel to visit some places and when we returned in the afternoon, we saw that the hotel doors were closed and there was nobody inside. In this hotel there is no card to open the rooms and guests must use regular keys. I tried twice to open the hotel with the room key desperately and it did not work. There is a police office in the front of the hotel. Since it was Sunday afternoon, police officers were not there. I dialed the bottom of the door to talk to a police officer. When I explained my situation, he said I will send a patrol but it takes a few hours. At the hotel door i2 phone numbers were written for urgent situations. Since my cell phone is for Canada, I was not able to call these numbers. I went to find a store if they could call these numbers for me but all stores were closed. They close the hotel 2 days per week even if they have guests. Even groceries are not closed 2 days per week. They did not explain to us that they close hotel doors and they did not explain how we can get in when there is no employee there. I don't know if it is legal or not based on the Switzerland law but even if it is legal, where is the moral principle? The hotel owner and manager has thought for even one second that if a guest in the hotel has a medical urgent issue and there is no employee inside, how can that guest get help, especially if, like my case , can not use his/her cell phone? There is no refrigerator in these hotel rooms. When this hotel is closed, 2 days per week, since the kitchen and restaurant is also closed, guests don't have cold water. This hotel does not have air conditioning in its rooms. The first night that we were there, the temperature was 30 C. How can somebody sleep in this situation? This hotel is really ridiculous and catastrophic
