Hotel Weisses Kreuz : Bravuogn, 7482 Bergün/Bravuogn

This is a review of the restaurant which was good after doing some sledding. The Wiener schnitzel was very very tender, the meat was of high quality. The salad was fresh and crispy. Important note: the kitchen closes at 2pm for lunch not a minute later.

In a region which certainly doesn't need yet another luxury hotel, hotels like the Weisses Kreuz are such a breath of fresh air. You get comfortable accommodation and thoughtful hospitality for a modest price. The proprietor has a gift for making guests quickly feel welcome and minimising waiting times at reception. The team in the restaurant is also impressively personable and thoughtful considering how large and busy it is. There's no hiding the rooms' age, but everything is in perfect working order. Even the entry-level rooms are very spacious. Sound insulation between rooms was good, but you will hear talking in the corridor. Sleds, bikes and skis can be stored for free in a basement room, accessed via a narrow outside staircase. The restaurant is superb, offering a range of local classics and global crowd-pleasers accompanied by an enormous wine list. A reservation a few days in advance is absolutely essential during peak periods. The breakfast buffet is quite pragmatic but what's there is high-quality and mostly regionally sourced.
