Grotto Descanso, Cantine di Gandria, 6978 Lugano

Grotto Descanso was such a special find! It’s a beautiful, traditional grotto-style restaurant tucked away right on the lake — super peaceful, surrounded by greenery, and it really feels like a hidden gem. You can only get there by boat , and that just adds to the whole experience. The setting is gorgeous and private, perfect for a relaxing lunch or dinner. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was absolutely fantastic — fresh, flavorful, and totally worth the trip. We had such a great time and would go back in a heartbeat!

The Grotto Descanso at the ferry stop opposite Gandria was a treasure….. on an afternoon of heavy rain. A sanctuary from the deluge became a highlight with a warm welcome and genuine hospitality as well as top quality food and wine. The cheese board was a great starter and all food top class. A wonderful place, lovely terrace with a lake view, relaxed atmosphere and service done like a friend. Couldn’t be happier.

Absolutely amazing place that you can only reach with a boat! It’s stunning sunset terrase and an old fashion natural mountain cooled vine cellar 16 degrees that is a must to see! Chef is fantastic and the wine list interesting! I can highly recommend this place
