Restaurant Cavloccio, Lägh da Cavloc, 7516 Maloja

Ristorante Cavloccio is a lovely little restaurant located on the shore of Lake Cavloccio. Plenty of seating outside. Menu with first courses and second courses. Exceptional homemade cakes: huge selection of fruit cakes, nusstorte. Possibility to buy local products . Excellent cuisine by the manager Sandro. Very kind waitresses and fast service. The restaurant's mascot is the sweet and beautiful Toby, a big Samoyed dog who welcomes customers. Every time we go to the lake a stop at the restaurant is a must. Highly recommended!!!

First of all: the location is outstanding, prices are reasonable, service is friendly despite the language barrier. Then: bread is served, two slices with a thick layer of blue mold. This is unacceptable on many levels, especially since it would probably cost 50 cents to slice fresh bread. New bread arrives, but there is no explanation or apology. The main course is veal sausage – pre-boiled as expected, but only briefly cooked to a point where it is just lukewarm. Along with frozen vegetables and polenta with cheap processed cheese, overall mediocre. One of our five orders is forgotten and arrives five minutes later when we asked for it. The cake is certainly not homemade, but it tastes very good. The highlight was the coffee, really nice and strong and hot. As an apology for the bread, there is a herbal schnapps on the house. If we had been served fresh bread from the start, or if we had received a proper apology, I would come back or recommend it to others.

A nice little mountain restaurant with a variety of fresh cakes. The view is stunning, and the climb up is doable. Please note: card payments are not accepted. Only cash is accepted. At least they accept euros as well as Swiss francs, although the in-house exchange rate is too high and not entirely understandable. Unfortunately, service is poor.
