Restaurant und Café Sonnentau : Wurmbergstraße 1-3, 97650 Fladungen

We were there just for lunch. The menu has many interesting dishes, and the burger we ordered was very good and served quickly. The location in the Rhön Mountains is excellent, and the view of the surrounding area is breathtaking. The restaurant itself is rather traditional and not very modern. We'll be happy to come back.

We were there during the week for wellness. The room we had was great and the treatments were very good. As we had half board we were able to choose on arrival and then always at breakfast, the selection is good. On the first day there was a salad buffet and then from the second day onwards there were salad plates, not good, because there are people who don't like or can't tolerate cucumbers or other things. The food could be better seasoned, for example the red cabbage, it had no taste. Then the wine list, you have to get that right, if you order a wine and are told it's sold out, the list will be changed. The next day the same thing happens with a different wine, or you get a different wine that you didn't order. That's not acceptable, please work on it. The staff and the service, including at reception, were very good.

Wellness area available, nice, lots of choice, lying areas inside and outside, relaxation rooms are available. Drinks in addition to the tap water at the wellness center would have been nice. Bathrobes and towels were provided. We borrowed plates for a birthday cake in the evening; we would have been charged €12 (8 plates) for these when we left. As a gesture of goodwill it was not charged. Hotel is easily accessible, parking spaces available. Beautifully laid out and modern. Very dog friendly Room was ready and available sooner than stated -Unfortunately there was only one key for the room (as a chip) very idyllic, quiet and secluded on a mountain, with a view of Fladen Hiking trails nearby Room Small but nice Clean and tidy Modern Unfortunately there is no mini fridge. -Dog room was great (are on the lowest floor) -Mopped floor and terrace available View of Fladen, equipped with a balcony service -Services very friendly and helpful -for having fun -We sat a little apart as there were 8 of us, which was very pleasant, especially with a dog. However, the clearing up was a bit neglected Breakfast: -Hot drinks other than coffee (at the table) and tea cost extra (e.g. latte around €3.50) -Croissants and small pretzels were gone very quickly (there was only a basket full of about 8 pieces), and were then only refilled upon request -There was generally a reasonable amount, it was refilled rather than served straight away -Coffee at the table unfortunately left residue in the cup when poured (the pot may not have been really clean) Dinner: -The menu on the first day said: salad buffet, but unfortunately there was none. Upon request (you have to be kind to the service) everyone was given a salad plate On the second day there was a salad buffet, a small selection of: e.g. Mienoodles (spaghetti salad), coleslaw, lamb's lettuce Here too the crowd was not large Baquette would have been nice too Portions were very small on the first day, seconds were available upon request. If you say so in advance, the portions are large! Here again, big compliments to the kitchen and waitresses. Food was very tasty. Sports & Entertainment Hiking trails available Old town has beautiful old half-timbered buildings Otherwise, small attractions can be easily reached on foot or by car: Freindlandmuseum, small waterfall (see google maps)
