I regularly go to the Black Bull, and this time, too, the atmosphere was pleasant and the service staff friendly and prompt. I usually have the Hunter's Skewer or the Hunter's Steak, which are always excellent. Today, I opted for the Chimichangas Pueblo… a tortilla filled with turkey breast, coconut, pineapple, and corn, topped with cheddar cheese, served with salad (€19). The filling didn't convince me; it lacked the spice and refinement I expect from a 'Tex-Mex' dish. The turkey could have been more tender. The highlight of the dish was definitely the salad! The yogurt dressing was delicious and beautifully fresh. I also liked the generous portion of crème fraîche that came with it. Overall, the meal wasn't bad by any means, but I wouldn't order it again for the reasons mentioned. But, as always, it's a matter of taste. The recently redesigned menu is sure to have something for everyone with a great mix of appetizers, salads, beef/pork, a wide selection of sides, Tex-Mex, vegan alternatives, and even desserts. I'll continue to eat there regularly!

The food is good, but it doesn't blow you away. We've eaten worlds better, and we're absolutely willing to pay for it! Unfortunately, the prices are by no means justified! Charging over 5 euros for frozen steakhouse fries is a bit cheeky. Selling four mini bruschetta as a starter for over 7 euros is outrageous. You should also definitely specify how you want your meat when ordering, otherwise it will be served rare. The waiters don't always ask how you want the meat done. The service is generally a bit slow and rather relaxed. The young girls like to chat at the bar in groups of three or four, which is why we waited 20 minutes for the bill in a nearly empty restaurant. A quick explanation of the price: We had four drinks, one of which was an aperitif with alcohol and the rest was lemonade. We then had a starter and two main courses. We paid a total of 100 euros for that, and that's quite a lot. Therefore, everyone has to decide for themselves whether they want to invest in Hammelburg (we are not talking about St. Tropez here).

The parking lot looks neglected, the balcony also lacks a caring hand, and weeds are sprouting everywhere between the cracks, which suggests a lack of hygiene. 1 point deducted. The outside area is actually beautiful and exudes a Mediterranean flair. The interior of the house also makes a good impression and is tastefully decorated. I ordered a pepper and sherry skewer, which tasted okay, the meat cooked to perfection, but unfortunately drowned in a red sauce, so the roasted flavors were lost. The red sauce wasn't a pepper and sherry sauce as advertised; it tasted and spiciness was okay. An interesting interpretation; if it had tasted of pepper and cherry, it would have been top-notch. The steakhouse fries we ordered were large, but neither crispy nor cooked through, and raw inside. 1 point plus because the meat was spot on. 2 points deducted because it deviated from the menu and the flaky pre-made fries were from the freezer. The salad looked OK, crisp and fresh, but unfortunately drowned in a tasteless, watery pre-made sauce. A splash of vinegar and a good olive oil would have been enough. 1 point deducted here. Edible but not tasty. Charging a large 0.3L Coca-Cola as 0.4L is pretty cheeky, even if it's a large glass for the restaurant. Unfortunately, the tap is set incorrectly, so there was no carbonation. The menu is clear and garnished with numerous good, interesting dishes. The homemade lemonades are a plus. These, strangely enough, are available as 0.45-ounce glasses... Overall, I can't understand the 5 and 4-star ratings. This steakhouse doesn't come close to restaurants of this quality. If you like good, home-style food without pretensions, you'll find what you're looking for here. I would have liked to give more, but the finishing touches are missing. ——————————- Three years later, nothing has changed. The Atizona steak is drowning in the horrible dead douse and tastes neither of pepper nor sherry. Again, they charge 0.4, but they serve 0.3.
