Café du Commerce Restaurant : Rue de Trévelin 5, 1170 Aubonne

I ate here today for lunch with my dear friend Eric and was so pleased with the food, service and wine that I felt compelled to come leave a review. The wine list is comprised of various Swiss references, regional and broader Switzerland, as well as international, with a strong showing of French wines. It is immediately apparent to any wine connoisseur that the establishment is run by true wine lovers given the quality of the selection. The prices are fair given the standard and when questioned about it the lady in charge told us she wanted to ensure even her best references were accessible despite their renown. First thumbs up. We both had the steak tartare, which the restaurant is said to be known for, and a green salad entrée. The chef came out to let us sample the tartare to ensure the spice was to our liking. The knife cut tartare portion was copious and tasty and was accompanied by house cut fries. The service checked up on us during the meal and gladly answered our questions with a big smile. The decor is that of a typical Swiss countryside auberge, with mementos and pictures on the walls and a cozy feel to it. Very satisfied with this first experience and will certainly return to sample the rest of the menu.
