Warm host who looks after his guests professionally and personally. The food was delicious and freshly cooked. Recommended in every respect. The inside area is not very large, so make sure you reserve a table.
First of all: I'm here as a guest - in the Metzgern restaurant as well as in the Schweizerisches Burgdorf - and so I can't compare fairly with what's usual here. I was impressed by the traditional building with its striking cross-vaulted arcades under which you can dine, and so I was happy to take a seat. On some tables there is a selection of food, all in all quite meat-heavy and not particularly creative and imaginative when it comes to the choice of side dish, fries. The dishes listed can also be found on a laminated summer menu that is displayed at the tables and is quite worn and the layout does not correspond to the traditional ambience. If you ask for drinks you will receive an integrated menu which reveals that salads, pizza or pasta are also possible. I choose the entrecote from the menu, obviously the most expensive dish with fries and pepper sauce for SFR 42.00. Since I am not asked about the degree of doneness when ordering, I want it in English, which causes irritation. What do I mean by that? I explain that it's exactly the other way around and I'm a little surprised in a house whose kitchen has such a strong focus on meat. What also surprises me, or suggests something bad, is that along with the cutlery, a small sideboard with two classic flavor enhancers comes to the table for seasoning. The entrecote, great meat quality, the desired degree of doneness was met but unfortunately completely cold, as was the Telker, which doesn't make it any better. Fries are just fries, crispy and good, but not handcrafted either. The pepper sauce is green peppercorns from a jar (which is OK) but in a very manageable quantity. They are swimming in cream that doesn't smell like pepper, but does smell like the products that are on the table for seasoning. In the top right corner are two tomato quarters with parsley for decoration. Ridiculous. Sorry, but I don't have to go to a restaurant for something like that (unless I'm a guest there and unfortunately have the wrong expectations).
Restaurant offers new dishes. Caprese with buffalo mozzarella for Burgdorf very expensive (26.-) Unfortunately not lovingly prepared, no basil, "normal" tomatoes that weren't really very ripe. I would have liked San Marzano for this price with more taste. Pouletcordonbleu was good, nice breading (personally I would swap the processed cheese for something with more spice) but for this price it is frozen vegetables. I expect fresh produce here. Portion size good in both cases. Nice service, quick service
