Unmissable address. Pierre in the kitchen and Joëlle in the dining room, guardians of the place. Simple location and atmosphere, beautiful terrace in summer. Divine cuisine, the menu has a choice of tartare, one more succulent than the other. Don’t hesitate to taste the chef’s suggestions which change according to the season and the chef’s wishes.

A real old style country inn within a few minutes proximity to the Sierre train station by a cable car ride and a short walk or a 10 minute taxi ride. The owner/chef previously had a career in the international hotel management. When he retired, he came back to his place of birth to take over his old family village cafe. The cuisine is largely simple traditional regional cooking as it was probably done 50 or 100 years ago by his ancestors. Not fancy food guide place but simple authentic village inn food and ambiance from a different era. A different experience and than that often found in the fancy food guides places. English, French and German is no problem for staff. The local wines are superior since a few of best local vineyards are actually based in the village. The food is of the simple authentic traditional variety. Frankly, I am a foodie but I enjoyed this less "sophisticated" simple good food experience. Prices are fairly reasonable. The extremely impressive Chateau Mercier is on the 10 minute walk back to cable car stop.
