House Tourbière Hotel Restaurant Du Cerf : Rue Major-Benoît 3, 2316 Les Ponts-de-Martel

We had a quick lunch in this recently renovated restaurant a Saturday in the middle of July 2024, sharing our meal with bikers from Lucerne. The menu is leaning towards hamburgers including the only vegetarian option on the menu. We chose the fish and chips like option with Swiss farmed salmon from Schwarzsee in the canton of Berne, accompanied by industrial French fries and a glass of Pinot Noir from the canton of Neuchâtel as it should be. The staff could crack a joke and even direct us to the Pro Natura nature reserve around the peat mosses, unusual in Switzerland but so common all over Scandinavia. There is a museum in the hotel complex that is well worth visiting if you are interested in local history from the 19th century. The next morning I discovered I had left my wallet behind after having paid my bill. How nice that the staff had taken care of it after a young lad had found it and even tried to reach me. That merits a fifth star.

The service is impeccable, the waiter has a lot of humor and it’s great. We ate really well, I recommend this place. Thanks for everything. George
