Just a short walk from the Aareschlucht gorge and what a beautiful walk it is! We were starving and decided to stop by and we had the best tomato soup and sandwich. The owner also lit some candles for us so our lunch felt romantic! This is definitely neighborhood favorite restaurant, the locals seem to enjoy it!

A great place to experience traditional Swiss food, from fondue and roeschti to baked cheese on bread . This small restaurant at the edge of Meiringen, near the entrance to the Aareschlucht, has a cozy, wood paneled dining room. As it has only five tables, and one of them is reserved for regular patrons , reservation is recommended. In the summer, there's also outdoor seating on the patio.

Food was great! Price was reasonable. I too initially had the same feeling about the service - seemed blunt and unfriendly - but she warmed up to us after a while :). It seems a common trait amongst service staff/restaurant owners here in Switzerland. Initially they seem uninterested in your patronage, but after you sit down and order the meals they seem to warm up to you! Either way we enjoyed our meal here and would recommend it to others too ..just go with a thick skin! 😜
