I recently stayed at the Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa, and while the location and design are undoubtedly stunning, my overall experience was disappointing—especially considering the high price I paid. I originally booked a specific room type, but upon arrival, I was told it was unavailable. The hotel kindly upgraded me free of charge, which I appreciated and initially made me feel positive about the stay. However, the upgraded room had a major issue: the air conditioning didn’t work at all. When I contacted the front desk, it took a long time for anyone to come, and instead of fixing the AC, they brought me two fans. One fan made constant noise while oscillating, disturbing my sleep. The other fan had no sleep mode and emitted a bright light all night—I had to cover it with my own band-aid just to sleep. The hotel’s location is beautiful, the decor is tasteful, and the blackout curtains were very effective—all things I genuinely liked. But the service response time was consistently slow. Every request took between 30 minutes to an hour, which is unacceptable for a five-star hotel. When you’re paying over CHF 7,700 for just three nights, you expect not just a beautiful setting, but also flawless service and basic comfort like working air conditioning. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect that value. I sincerely hope the hotel management takes this feedback seriously and addresses these issues to live up to the premium standards they promise.

This was by far the best hotel experience I’ve had. First, the view. The resort is set atop a mountain overlooking beautiful Lake Lucerne on one side and a green alpine valley on the other. The hotel does a great job leveraging these views with big glass windows and lots of outdoor spaces. When you walk outside, the majority of times you’ll only hear birds chirping and cowbells clanking. it’s incredibly peaceful. The resort staff are friendly, eager to please and all speak perfect English (helpful for my family traveling from the U.S.). There are multiple restaurants serving a variety of cuisines; each one we tried was delicious. My only caution to travelers is to be fully aware of the costs. The region — and the resort — are very expensive but I knew that. For me, it was worth paying so much for lifelong memories with my family. I sincerely hope to be able to visit Bürgenstock again one day in the future. It’s like a dream resort.

We did not visit the hotel, just the Spices restaurant and the hotel lobby. It's probably necessary to separate the path of hotel guests and visitors, but we were almost chased out of the lobby as visitors before 12, despite all the free tables. Due to a special "exception", we could drink a glass of champagne as aperitif - which we would not have found another opportunity in the resort (we arrived with the 10:07 boat from Lucerne and had lunch reservation for 12:15). The resort itself is beautiful and highly recommended.
