Grandma's cooking, in a positive sense. You can really feel the traditional Appenzell restaurant tradition here. The restaurant ambiance is as it used to be, with a large, cozy oven in the parlor. The menu selection is impressive, the meat mostly comes from the farm, and the prices are very fair, the likes of which you only find in the countryside. The choice of the daily special was spot on. Homemade meatloaf with homemade spaetzle in a rich gravy and cauliflower. Accompanied by a soup of the day with a mixed salad. The vegetables don't need to be cooked as long these days, which unfortunately makes them lose their bite. The Schnippo was also well received. Two schnitzels with tender, flavorful meat. The portions are generous, wonderful. Overall, a wonderful experience to eat here. Friendly service, beautifully situated in the countryside, amidst a traditional atmosphere.

I haven't been to such a lovely restaurant for a long time. The service staff and the owner, who also cooks herself, are just super friendly, you feel like you're at home, the food was very good, really good home cooking, huge portions at low prices, always a pleasure!
