Schnider Bed&Breakfast und Café : Poststrasse 34D, 7132 Vals

Be very careful when you book at this place. We arrived around 9 pm and there was no one at the counter. We picked up out key from the key box, and then had to walk up the hill to a hostel where our room was, where seasonal employees of the 5 star Hotel next door resides. Our room was extremely narrow , poorly furnished, AND THE WORST OF ALL, the bathroom door was stuck or locked. After a long trip we couldn't use the bathroom ! the suffering and the embarrassment . Thus we left and booked a room in the 5 star hotel next door. Next morning when we complained , they did not honor our concerns. When we disputed our payment with the credit card company , Schnider LIED saying that they had offered us a better room , WHEN INFACT THERE WAS NO ONE THAT WE EVER WAS ABLE TO TALK TO AT THE SITE !!!! WHAT A BLATANT LIARS. Schnider's Business License should be revoked.

It seems like we visited Schnider not in season. There were not many people staying and it was very quiet. We were able to stay in the renovated room with a bed for two in the seperate building Zervreila 3 minutes away from the café. All in all it was a very pleasant stay. The Bed was comfy and we didnt expect to have a balcony which is very convenient since we're smokers. The only thing I was missing was the little Kitchen which wasnt equipped fully. No plates and even no glasses to fill some water. The included Breakfast was simple and nice. You have the option to choose Add-ons like fried eggs or a birchermüesli for free. We also had the Halfpension which was a 4-Course dinner at Hotel Alpina. The Dinner was very satisfying and the server was good.

I had a deeply disappointing experience at Schnider Bed & Breakfast und Café, which was not only misleading but also incredibly frustrating. Based on the descriptions and images provided at the time of booking, I was under the impression that I would be staying in a chalet-style room in a traditional setting. Upon arrival, however, I was told that my room was located in a completely different building—a lower-quality structure that was not the cozy, chalet environment I had been promised. The room was far below expectations, nothing like what was advertised online, and felt like a bait-and-switch tactic. When I expressed my dissatisfaction and requested a solution, I was redirected to Hotel Alpina, another property supposedly linked to Schnider. Things only got worse from there. At Hotel Alpina, I was informed that I would need to pay more than the original booking price—an increase from 150 CHF to 170 CHF—despite having made a reservation at the original price. When I reasonably questioned why I was being charged more, the staff's response was shocking. Instead of addressing my concerns, they threatened to call the police on me, which was an utterly unprofessional and intimidating tactic, especially when all I was asking for was clarification about the unexpected price hike. This experience was not just poor customer service—it was downright abusive and completely unacceptable for any establishment claiming to cater to guests. I later discovered that many other reviews have mentioned similar issues, pointing to a pattern of misleading advertising and extremely unprofessional conduct. I would strongly urge anyone considering a stay at Schnider Bed & Breakfast und Café to rethink their decision. The mismanagement, dishonesty, and blatant disregard for customer care are beyond tolerable. I hope that the management will take serious steps to improve their practices, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
