The food, the atmosphere, the building, the service, and the staff, everything was fantastic! We had such a great experience there. The food was fresh and delicious, served in pots with candles underneath to keep it warm — such a thoughtful touch! The portions were generous, and every dish felt made with care. They have one of the best beer also!
It is a very popular restaurant in Zurich and it is recommended to book a table to shorten the waiting time. The food is delicious and the house beer is a must-try. The staff there must love their job very much as they were really happy and energetic even the restaurant was super busy.
During my recent holiday in Switzerland, I had the pleasure of dining at Zeughauskeller in Zurich—a restaurant that truly immerses you in the heart of Swiss culinary tradition. Ambience & Setting: The moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the historic charm of the place. Housed in a 15th-century armory, the interior is filled with rustic wooden tables, antique weapons, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere that reflects Swiss hospitality. What I Tried: • 🧀 Cheese and Ham Meat Cuts: A fantastic way to start the meal. The cheeses were rich and creamy, beautifully balanced with the smoky, tender ham. Perfect with a cold beer. • 🍺 Traditional Swiss Beer: I sampled their house beer, and it was excellent—smooth, refreshing, and paired perfectly with the heavier dishes. A must-try for beer lovers. • 🥩 Beef with Rice: This main course was hearty and satisfying. The beef was tender and well-seasoned, served with a flavorful sauce over fluffy rice. It’s not the flashiest dish, but it’s comfort food at its finest. • 🍰 Desserts: I ended my meal with a traditional Swiss dessert (likely apple strudel or chocolate mousse). It was the perfect sweet finish—light, not overly sugary, and beautifully presented. Service: Despite the busy evening crowd, the service was efficient and friendly. The staff provided menus in English and were happy to recommend traditional dishes. Final Thoughts: If you’re in Zurich and want a taste of authentic Swiss cuisine in a truly unique setting, Zeughauskeller is a must. Whether you’re a foodie or just curious about Swiss culture, this place offers an unforgettable dining experience.
