It's always nice to travel to Vienna or Salzburg. There's so much to see and experience there – and the excellent Austrian cuisine: Wiener Schnitzel, roast beef, Tafelspitz, apple strudel. As a Swiss person, you no longer need to travel over the Arlberg for that. At the Ochsen in Lützelflüh, you'll be served legendary Austrian dishes with a quality that's hard to find in Austria. Everything is fresh: vegetables, salads. And the meat is expertly prepared. Tafelspitz (a special kind of boiled beef with a horseradish, apple, and chive sauce) was prepared for us to order. The aromatic meat melted in our mouths. And the broth was served afterward. Excellent! We only ate at the Ochsen, we didn't stay overnight.

We were in the newly landscaped garden today; vines are growing, there's a charming wooden bar and a grill. We sat in the shade under the trees in pleasant, colorful light – a club atmosphere. We had a wonderful meal – oxtail soup with marrow bone and pancakes, a salad bowl for two, figs stuffed with Roquefort and wrapped in bacon (fantastic), Goldbach fish in foil, oven-baked gnocchi, Dömmental cheese spaetzle with lots of fried onions, baked breaded Emmental cheese with tartar sauce and cranberries with leaf salad from the garden (finally something decent for vegetarians), fried veal liver a la minute in a pan with nut butter, homemade Emmental potato rösti, and braised vegetables. My junior had beef tartare with baked egg yolk as a starter – then 40cm FLAMMEN SKIESS from the lava stone grill with wok-fried vegetables and homemade Emmental wedges including the skin – flambéed at the table – wow – who does that these days? To finish: Kaiserschmarn in a giant pan for everyone with cognac, cherry compote, and raisins. It was a feast, at surprisingly reasonable prices. One more thing: when you go to wash your hands, you'll find a board in the hallway where you can hang handwritten guest feedback cards. Check it out, ANALOG, like postcards: We'll be back soon with the company for an anniversary and employee event, including a BBQ. Greetings from the City of Bern, E. Invest
