We went to Warteck Bern for lunch. I had a daily special, a salad followed by a sirloin steak. The salad was basic but ok. The steak was cooked medium, as I ordered. It came with herb butter, fresh and perfectly cooked vegetables as well as fries. It was a great value for its price. As dessert, I had a cassata with cream, which I also enjoyed. The service was unique - the waitress was very authentic and liked to joke with us. We had a great time at Warteck Bern!
The good: very extensive menu, varied choice, typical and season dishes, specialty dishes, affordable choices, tasty pizzas, i liked the hot chilli peppers for the pizza. The less good: service can be slow, I wish I didn't have to ask for water, decoration is a little outdated.
Indian owners trying to imitate Italian cuisine and service style. People go beacause is cheap, cheap quality, precooked pasta, rice and vegetables just meat cooked on orders. The products are as low quality as the concept they have, obsolete catering left in the 80s. Many recipes are an insult to Italian cuisine such as Carbonara made with milk cream, spek instead of bacon, without egg yolk and without pecorino romano... They don't have a single dish on the menu that respects the rules, ingredients and tradition of Italian cuisine, only for the names unfortunately, which unfortunately have no copyright... The restaurant should be modernized, that ugly extractor hood in aluminum that flaunts along the entire ceiling of the restaurant, highly unsanitary because it accumulates dust above the diners, it seems to be in a department of a factory, not in a restaurant room. No tablecloths... Disposable paper placemats... Even with the staff they save money, only one waitress and one cook, in other restaurants at least ten people work for the same tables not to mention that every now and then you can hear the owner yelling and yell at the poor employees... Are we still at these levels in 2024??? The owner who treats the employees very badly and then goes around complaining about them to the customers if my dish arrived after 30 minutes??? They should take their own responsibilities! From the smoking room comes a nauseating stench of cigars from people playing cards. The coffee ordered in the end was a long coffee that tasted burnt... They don't even have the concept of what an Italian café is as well as Italian cuisine... The house wine? Upon request for explanations, I was told that it is Portuguese... I have been to other Italian restaurants in Switzerland, however with Italian, non-Indian owners who imitate Italian catering and in the other restaurants I ate well and the staff were happy and kind... This fake Italian restaurant higly Not recommended !
