Happened to stop by this place late in the afternoon and wasn't expecting much. Had pork steak... Such juicy and perfectly made. Next time I'm gonna make it a point to drive past there, only to have that lovely food again!

Friendly service, always smiling. We were treated well and they gave us a larger table and space since our group was larger. The right music was always playing. They even had a real grill, wow! The food was delicious, everything was fresh and delicious.

Unfortunately, yet another confirmation of the fact that if you want to eat well you should not come to Mellingen (However, I do not lose hope). I have refrained from reviewing other restaurants but this one certainly deserves encouragement to do better. Located near the old Mellingen station, it is a restaurant in the "Schwiizer Beiz" style, unfortunately not confirmed by the decor that does not help at all to create the atmosphere. A mixture of modern paintings, photos of the desert, cherubs, and vases in the least matching colors ruins, in my opinion, the customer's expectations. The service deserves 4 stars, excellent in welcoming and advising the customer but at the same time very discreet. The menu is not very exciting and tempting, apart from the "grilled meat specialties" section. There are Italian and Swiss dishes but placed a bit haphazardly. I chose the Venetian-style liver with rice and vegetables from the menu (and here someone should explain to the chef that you should use sliced onions and not sliced garlic and that it should not be cooked in wine but only simmered, and let's forget about the Aromat, or remove the word Venice). It's true that the risotto should make a wave but here it came out like a Tsunami (but how do you overcook rice?) We also ordered US Prime Rib Eye medium rare with country potatoes (unfortunately understanding the difference between medium and rare is not a chef's specialty, and the potatoes...well look at the photo). And again a Gordon Bleu (poached in oil). I didn't ask the other diners at my table what they thought of the horse meat or the stroganoff but you could tell from their faces that it was better not to ask. Among the pros, it must be said that the portions are very generous, perhaps even too much. I think that if I gave a little more importance to quality than quantity maybe I would go back because the place is really beautiful.
