We came for drinks and enjoyed some finger food—calamari, hummus, and French fries—all very tasty. But the real highlight is the absolutely stunning view of the lake and mountains. A perfect spot to relax and take it all in!
I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Le Deck at Hotel Baron Tavernier in Chexbres, Switzerland. A wonderful culinary experience in an exceptional setting! This restaurant, perched above the vineyards with breathtaking views of Lake Geneva and the French Alps, offers both refined cuisine and impeccable service. The staff was warm, attentive, and highly professional, making the experience even more enjoyable. Our meal began with beautifully fresh crab meat, delicately seasoned with citrus and light spices, highlighting an elegant play on textures. The fried quail that followed was outstanding, featuring a rich, well-balanced sauce that complemented the dish perfectly, accompanied by thoughtfully prepared sides. We also opted for the perch fillets from the lake. While the flavor was excellent, I found them slightly over-fried, and a simpler preparation might have better showcased their natural taste. That said, the dish was still enjoyable, especially with the deliciously grilled baby potatoes served alongside. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with stunning views and sophisticated flavors. A place well worth visiting for both the food and the ambiance!
Beautiful spot with an absolutely stunning view over Lake Geneva and the vineyards of Lavaux. That alone makes it worth the visit. Service is friendly and efficient, and the food is good with great presentation. You mostly come here for the view, but everything else holds up nicely too. Parking might be an issue so make sure you prepare in advance your visit. The Lavaux vineyards are part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites and rightfully so. I'd suggest you enjoy a glass of local Chasselas to make your experience authentic. Santé!
