We're a couple from Bern/Zurich on a road trip through the Jura mountains, and we landed here spontaneously and hungry at 9:30 p.m. on Good Friday 2024. What can we say? So much hospitality! We were almost blown away. We thought the restaurant was closing soon and it would be difficult to order anything. The waitress greeted us very warmly and said we could still order anything we wanted (oven-baked pizza, fondue chinoise, plated meals, etc.) and enjoy whatever we wanted in peace; he would stay until we were finished. That was so nice! We were only a little hungry and ordered steak tartare with salad. The 220g portion of steak tartare was generous, freshly chopped à la minute (not ground), and boldly seasoned, exactly the way we like it. As for the ambiance: We were expecting a rustic restaurant with a regulars' table, but instead we found a family-friendly, lively, and modern restaurant with top-notch service and top-notch cuisine. A perfect five stars. A big recommendation for all travelers to the Jura!
This second visit to Cheval Blanc confirms: it's a very good place to eat! We wanted a change of restaurant (usually going to Le Raisin for their delicious röstis) and we weren't disappointed. The cuisine is different, so the two restaurants complement each other. I can only speak for the porcini mushroom risoto (a special meat-free option, as I'm vegetarian). It was creamily perfect! It was cooked very well; it melted in your mouth. A delicious mushroom flavor, without being overpowering either. I complemented it with a basket of white bread (brought for the mixed salad, which was also very good), which made for a slightly more substantial meal (you have to feed your 110kg! ^^) No tiramisu on the horizon, but the crème brûlée was apparently very good and beautifully presented! The staff is super friendly and the owner is really welcoming, a bit like Pintu (from Porren, very good Indian, excellent spring rolls). All in all, a very good experience at Cheval Blanc! The owner even offered us coffee, which was a nice touch! And when we go out, enjoying the river and the ducks that swim along it is priceless!
Nice little terrace, impeccable service. The food is very good. The owner is always present and attentive to his customers. Good value for money. We recommend this restaurant.
