Atmosphere and decor at this restaurant is pleasantly Swiss and cosy. Being at a family orientated holiday park, it is surprising that there is little children's selection here, nothing in the menu but we were told there is chicken nuggets/chips or tomato pasta. It was our second time eating here and both experiences have unfortunately been somewhat lacklustre. In this instance, the initial drinks of beers and children's syrup arrived warm ("Sorry, we just changed the keg." Do you keep the spare kegs in a warm room?) We at least just got some ice for the syrup. The green salad was listed with "eggs from our Fronalp adventure farm" in the menu... seems the adventure was you had to search the few, small pieces of egg white that were included. It was very, very sparingly dressed with sauce, and included burnt croutons. The "crispy skinned" Zander filet (photo included) seemed steamed, such was the consistency of the skin. The "rösti" that was a side was nothing like a rösti, dry and cold as if precooked and put in a microwave. The spinach salad that was part of this small, 42chf dish never arrived. When told, the waitress just kind of shrugged and forced a "sorry." The capuns filling seemed made predominantly with white flour and water, there was no dried meat as is typical and flavour was incredibly bland. The mushroom sauce along with salt and pepper gave it done flavour. As it is "wild" season in Switzerland which usually offers some tasty dishes, we were further disappointed to hear our waitress offer a wild selection to another table when we already had our meals, as she never mentioned this to us when bringing the menus. We raised some of these above issues during and after the meal and were offered complimentary coffee, which we declined. We had one beer deducted from the bill. Reviews for this place seem generally positive food wise, maybe we have just been unlucky (twice) but with the litany of errors here it seems unlikely. Most disheartening restaurant experience in years.
Evelin made our experience stellar. She was absolutely brilliant with our young kids, made their experience unique, and really catered to their needs. Beyond a great service, food (fondue and cordon bleu) was delicious, and the atmosphere is amazing- a real mountain chalet away from the buzzing of the resort. Many thanks for the experience, we hope to be back soon!
We had a great time with our kids, the food was very refined and exquisite and the waiters extremely kind with the kids (not always the case in Switzerland) Thank you for the great evening
