They were most kind to accommodate our 8.45pm reservation when they close at 10pm. It is a casual place with courteous service and a lovely tranquil open air setting on the side of the lake. The food was really excellent! Generous portions and very tasty. Some of the best meals of our whole trip. Thank you!
I don't usually give full of stars, but this restaurant is amazing. Best schnitzel ever in my life! And fried chicken is very crunch with juicy meats. You should try the both!!
The Möhl was nice and cold. But that was about it. Every constructive criticism should be seen as an incentive for improvement – and my experience today clearly relates to the kiosk business at the Trattoria am See. I neither ate in the restaurant nor tried a dish from the trattoria. My visit was exclusively in the beer bench area directly in front of the terrace. Okay, one or two things also concern the restaurant area – but more on that later. First of all: I'm deliberately taking the time here to reflect on my visit. And yes – I have a gastronomic education and have worked in various areas of the restaurant industry for over 25 years. We cycled enthusiastically in the best weather to the "Bruggerloch" to take a look at the newly leased Trattoria am See and its kiosk. We knew that the beer bench area was self-service – no problem for us. So I went to the kiosk window to get some drinks and had to chuckle at the first glance at the handwritten menu: If terms like "Chessburger" or "Chicken FriZes" are so misspelled, I wonder: Why doesn't anyone here take a minute to quickly Google the terms or check them on their smartphone? We live in the year 2025 – that's simply not a professional appearance for me. Anyone with a restaurant license should at least demonstrate a modicum of diligence. Look at the sign yourself – it speaks volumes. The crowd was naturally large given the beautiful weather – understandable. What was less understandable was the mood of the lady at the kiosk window. Not rude, but visibly annoyed, listless, and overwhelmed by the influx of customers. Anyone working in a kiosk on a hot summer day should expect customers. The drink prices are on the higher end, but still reasonable. What bothers me: If I pay €3.90 for a "Gespritzter" , I don't want to know that it's a €2.99/liter Grüner Veltliner from the supermarket. That's just cheap buying – and expensive selling. Okay, at least it's not a 2-liter plastic bottle – but still: That has little to do with fair calculations and gastronomic attitudes. After two or three rounds of drinks, we got hungry and ordered: • 1x "Chessburger Fries" for €11.50 • 1x "Chicken Fries" for €12.00 What we got was a complete disappointment. Both dishes consisted of the cheapest ready-made frozen products imaginable. The "Chicken Fries": 8 breaded pressed meat sticks – tasting somewhere between nothing and canteen food. Plus a decent portion of wavy fries, crispy at least. The fries were basically okay. And then the next low point: Ketchup and mayonnaise came from squeeze bottles for you to help yourself – no brand, no restaurant quality, simply the cheapest you can find. For me, it's a disgrace in the restaurant industry to charge €12 for them. The "Chessburger" was no better: A dry, overcooked frozen patty, carelessly topped with a thick slice of tomato, a bit of lettuce, and ready-made cocktail sauce, wedged into a burger bun. The bun was okay – the rest was a tragedy. You can often get a burger like this in better quality at a 24-hour gas station somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Regarding the restaurant area: Anyone who welcomes guests on a lakeside terrace with "trattoria" aspirations should pay attention to the details. Dried flowers, weeds, broken chairs – it doesn't match the image on the website. Conclusion: The swimming pond is really beautiful, the Möhl was cold – and that's about it for the positives. Food at the kiosk? Fries or an ice cream at most. Although I didn't have great expectations, I was completely disappointed with the food. Cheap convenience foods, high prices, no gastronomic standards – that has nothing to do with true hospitality.
