We really enjoyed our visit to Restaurant Freihof. We were overwhelmed by the food and couldn't stop marveling. The service was also incredibly friendly and attentive. We definitely recommend this restaurant and would love to return!
I discovered this restaurant 2 years ago and was immediately impressed. The restaurant is located outside the village of Goldingen in the direction of the forest. There are enough parking spaces directly in front of the house. The view is beautiful. From both inside the restaurant and from the terrace you have a view down into the valley and onto the upper Lake Zurich, embedded in nature. The restaurant itself is modern and beautifully decorated. In the meantime, this was my fourth visit and we left the restaurant excited every time. As always, we received a warm welcome and were shown to our table. The menu isn't very long, but it offers something for everyone. This also shows me that the food here is fresh and homemade. Whether salads, smoked salmon tartare or fine soups as starters. Everything is excellent. There is also something for everyone when it comes to the main courses. This time I decided on the smoked salmon tartare. A dream. Excellently seasoned. The small decorative salad was also served with a dressing and the finely sliced cucumber slices under the tartare were excellently marinated. A detail that also shows that these are important to the chef and that he enjoys his work. For the main course I ordered the veal cordon bleu. Visually it's an eye-catcher. It comes across as a role. All on a bed of spring vegetables. The Cordon Bleu was excellently done. The meat was tender as butter, the breading was crispy on the outside and the whole thing was filled with a fine, spicy cheese. The vegetable bed was very well seasoned and harmoniously seasoned. Another side dish was fries. Sounds simple, but these were perfectly done. Crispy and perfectly golden on the outside, perfectly soft on the inside. Simply outstanding. For dessert, ice cream and an excellent espresso. What more could you want? Actually nothing, there were 4 small pieces of chocolate cake waiting for you on the sugar tier. A nice surprise. By the way, it's also worth mentioning: there are also various wines by the glass. It's also a good place to have a glass of wine if you're there by car. The selection is well made. The service is super friendly and you feel very comfortable and welcome as a guest here. A perfect experience from start to finish. To my obligatory final question: would I go again? In any case. It's always worth a visit. No matter whether in the summer on the terrace or in the restaurant in the guest room. It's worth a trip.
