La Brasserie du Rive : Rue de Rive 15, 1260 Nyon

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant La Brasserie du Rive inside the same name hotel in Nyon, Switzerland. We started with the smoked arctic char and trout, served alongside a fresh salad and potatoes with a light mayonnaise. The flavors were quite good, though the presentation could have done a bit more to highlight the fish. For the main course, we had Lake Geneva perch fillets, kindly prepared without the usual creamy sauce, and instead cooked with olive oil — a delicious and lighter alternative. The fillets were fresh, perfectly portioned, and accompanied by French fries and lentils. While the lentils were well-prepared, the accompanying sauce was perhaps a touch heavy for my personal taste. The staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming, even amid a clearly busy service — the restaurant was buzzing. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the proximity of the tables, which can make the atmosphere quite loud when the room is full. That said, the lively ambiance is a sign of the restaurant’s popularity — and well earned. Overall, a very enjoyable experience with high-quality local ingredients and warm service.

We were contemplating which restaurant to go to in Nyon. Happy we chose this one! The service was impeccable and the food even better! And the contrast of watching Mont Blanc over the lake in sunset and a thunderstorm over Jura. Not the cheapest but aligned with local standards.

If you're looking for a top dining experience, this place is a must. Le filet de perche du lac Léman is simply best-in-class! Fresh, flavourful and perfectly cooked. In summer, the terrace is beautiful, offering a relaxed setting with a lovely view. The indoor dining room is also elegant and welcoming, perfect for any occasion. Service is excellent, friendly, attentive staff and a warm, professional atmosphere. The menu offers a great variety of delicious dishes and desserts.
